Advanced Inquiry

Advanced inquiry is a special group for children in our block who are good self managers and can be trusted to work by themselves independently. For advanced inquiry I am studying whales. We all have to complete a piece of writing ad I am writing a speech on why Japan should stop whaling, this a very interesting topic because I would like to be a Marine Biologist when I am older. To give you an idea how big a whale is, think of an elephant and then multiply it's length ten times. A blue whale is the largest creature on earth, growing up to thirty meters in length!!!

Begin with a hot Summers Chirstmas.
Add a welcoming warm breeze.

Mix a well earned golden beach.

Pour a tub of sunscreen and a dash of seaweed into  the
mixture and whisk slowly.

Soften with a jug of wet saturated towels.

Throw in some sun seekers and sweaty
clothes.

Add a marathon of parch grass and dusty leaves.

Gently stir a ½ a cup of happiness.

Combine a tone fish’n chips, on the beach.

And enjoy!

Jump Jam

On Saturday 29th of October I and others went to a Jump Jam Competition and the boys team competed against 4 teams but we still took out a win and brought home a trophy so thats what I spent my weekend doing, I know fun times.

Jump Jam

After so many months, weeks, days and hours the day had finally arrived,We got ready including lots of sparkles, getting in are costumes and curling are hair.We went back stage and the nerves started kicking in. All the other teams looked amazing. We were 2nd on so we had to line up and get ready, Now we were all starting to freak out.... "Next up we have the Halswell magic show!!" I walked onto stage looking at all the eyes staring at me breathed and said " ladies and gentleman, boys and girls" then Kate said "welcome to the Halswell magic show". The crowd cheered before we knew it the routine was over we we went through are routine without any mistakes and we were all grinning proud of what we had done now all we had to do was wait. All the performances were amazing it was definitely the hardest grade. Sadly we didn't place but we are really proud of how we did and it was so much fun.

Liam Boyd- Kiwi Flag

Term i will be playing my second year of kiwi flag for summer sport i made it to the A- Team last year but we came second this year i am hoping to make it to at least the semis but ill be happy with a 1st place we just need to play hard and strong then we will win i made it to the A-team again but the B-team is very good aswell especially Michael wilkinson.

China Year 8 trip 2016

This year 16 Year 8 students went to China. We left on the 17 of September And flew from Christchurch to Auckland then we waited in the airport for about 4 hours and then we flew to Guangzhou which is in China.

We were very very lucky that we were the ones that got chosen to go. This trip wouldn't have happened without Miss Dovey and Mr jack

The parents that went on the trip were Ruby's Mum, Petina Ireland, Sophie's dad, Mr Eric Moore, Ella's Nana, Dawn Clark and without them the trip would not have happened.

My parent on the trip was Petina Ireland in my group there was Shanae.Kingston, Sophie.Moore, Anna.Crammond and Anita.Probert

Jump Jam

Hi my name is Finn i was in the really awesome Jump Jam team its so much fun i like doing the elbow thing its really fun and improves my elbow movement but Timmy kept trying to touch my hand i dont know what he was trying to do but it was kinda weird then after we won he and Angus invited me to play football i said no because i didn't want it to awkward if he touched my hand again so i went home and put my jump jam tea-shirt and went out for lunch it tasted good then i went home and thought about how amazing i was at jump jam i was pretty good i was like a chair with arms THE START.

Our new school field

last week our school opened a brand our new school field. Kappa Haka did a performance to open it. The field is very big and is fun to play on. It has been a very long time since we have had a field to play on. It has also been a very long wait as we were thinking we could be able to go on it for the past couple years and have been waiting for a very long time.
Kiwi Tag.

This years kiwi tag team is a very strong team although I'm not to sure if it's better than the last years team because we came second which was a very good result for us loosing 3-2 in the final and it went to golden goal/try.  In the year 5/6 ripper rugby tournament Michael and I got top try scorers with eleven tries each until the final where Michael scored a hat-rick where as I only got one... This year I'm sure we will get at least top four with all the quality in the squad especially that our newest signings were told they were the best at the trial, The B team is also looking very strong along with the very solid C team member(s)?. Good luck to the other teams and tah tah fairwell.

End of term reflection

My success is that I did the master chief cooking to a high standard and not under cook the chicken

A challenge this term would have been getting all my Matariki inquiry on time

Next term I want to be able to go to rugby zones but I may not be able to

Mihiroas term 2 reflection

My successes for this term is getting in the top 40 for the Canterbury duathlon. Also going to Hagley for hockey. I found it very challenging to try make the computers turn on. I hope that I will get into the Koru games touch team and if I do for my team not for my team to get last.

The sharp sword
The forest burned from the fire of the battle. I was lucky and escaped with only a broken sword. Our enemy, Gilbert had previously been disarming our front line but we had caught them at it. I had rushed my soldiers into battle. It was a hard fight but fortunately we won. Our army is not the largest so we have to train our soldiers to perfection. That is why all our weaponry is always damaged.

I've heard of an old trusty blacksmith who lived nearby. So I ordered a army of warriors to have their weapons fixed but I had a funny feeling that the blacksmith
So we hide in a suit of armour. Unfortunately we rattled it a bit too much and it fell over. My saddle mouse was flung onto the blacksmiths nose. I had secured myself with a place to appear from and introduce my army. At first he muttered something about going crazy but as soon as my sword was seen, we were away I was very fascinated about it all. My sword came out glamorise so I Ordered him to fix all all of my army's weapons. He seem pretty chuffed about it all.

The Blacksmith

“Why am I doing this. I am no use to anyone. I am a sloth,”

Work is getting a lot harder in my old years. I hit a sword on a metal bench “ahhh my back,” so much pain. I am getting so weak. A sound came from my metal iron armor. It started rattling it rolled off to my feet.

Out crawled a in mouse and the tiny crusader jumped off the top shelf. “Would you please fix my sword.” he tiny crusader said. Finally work for me. After all these years I can do something useful in my life.

The tiny crusader handed the sword over to me I went to get little scraps of metal and started mending together.

I handed it back to the tiny crusader. It was the best day of my life . He said “well your job is not done yet “ with a massive smile on my face. I am actually useful to someone.

Lochlan's camp writing

Cold kayaking

Oh it was the most freezing thing, the chill shot up my spine like a bullet.
After a while I got used to it, when we had sorted ourselves we started to play
“Follow the leader”
Justin and I waded around the buoys and were soon finished.
Our instructor told us we were doing well soon started to play another game called gun-up.We were in for the first round, I like it a lot but the wind made it really hard for us to paddle across the harbour.
Never-the-less,we got everyone in.
I think that kayaking was the best activity at camp.
